The Sturgis Bike Show had been going on since May 2nd, 2010. Bikers hoping for a little bit of glory showed up from all over SL to enter and hopefully walk away with a trophy. Today at 5pm SLT, the show ended and Aldo Weisser announced the winners of the Popular, Owner, and Builder categories. For each catagory, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners split and took home a total of L$21,000.
For the Popular category, which was open to voting by the general public (each vote costing L$25), the winners were as follows:
1st place: Maringo Serrati – 2nd place: Sodapop Heron - 3rd place: HawkedWarrior Darkwatch
For the Owners category, the winners were the following:
1st place: Colthen Caeran – 2nd place: Wolf Kenyon – 3rd place: Eme Capalini
For the Builders category, the winners were the following:
1st place: Bud Starsider – 2nd place: Lexy Oller – 3rd place: Pops Oldrich
For the Popular category, I managed to catch up with Maringo and asked him a few quick questions:
[17:10] Duranu Razorfen: Hi, hope i’m not interrupting, but mind answering a couple questions in regards to the contest?
[17:11] Maringo Serrati: no, I don’t, ge ahead
[17:11] Maringo Serrati: go*
[17:11] Duranu Razorfen: thanks, this will all be postied in a blog of mine.
[17:11] Duranu Razorfen: first of all, how’s it feel to win the popular vote?
[17:12] Maringo Serrati: Feels great. I’ve been putting a lot of effort in it the last few days and it does pays off.
[17:12] Duranu Razorfen: How long did it take you to bulid the bike?
[17:12] Maringo Serrati: (You might spellcheck it, since English is not my native language )
[17:13] Duranu Razorfen: it’s alright
[17:14] Maringo Serrati: well, It’s a bit hard to say. The bike itself was done in about 5 days, including sculpties and textures. But the script I’ve been working on for a few weeks to make it react perfectly
[17:14] Duranu Razorfen: do you have your own shop?
[17:16] Maringo Serrati: I do. It’s a small one now, but I’m busy with building a whole sim, where my larger store will be. Some things, including this bike, arent for sale in-world, only on XStreet
[17:16] Duranu Razorfen: will be looking forward to seeing the shop. Anything you’d like to say to any aspiring builders out there?
[17:17] Maringo Serrati: Practice makes perfect.
Colthen Caeran was a little busy, but was kind enough to answer where he got his bikes for his 1st place win in the Owners category. “The Black “16″ Bike comes from Deep south Choppers and the the Florida Gator Football Bike was a custom Built for me by Hed Lockjaw of Hed Lockjaw Choppers.”
Bud Starsider had the following to say on his 1st place win of the builder’s category:
[17:53] Duranu Razorfen: Hiya! Sorry if I’m interrupting anything, but i blog for the Second Life Motorcycle blog and was wondering if i could ask you a few questions in regards to your getting 1st place in the Sturgis Bike Show Builder Category.
[17:54] Bud Starsider: Hi. Sure
[17:55] Duranu Razorfen: Thanks Just so you know, I may be putting this as-is in the blog I write.

[17:57] Duranu Razorfen: Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to anyone working on building their first bike, such as tips, tricks?
[17:58] Bud Starsider: go for it. Building bikes is a blast. It is my passion. But never forget that friends are the priority.
