Bike Builder Spotlight!

It’s Monday and time again for another Builder Spotlight where I highlight motorcycle builders from all around Second Life. Also, don’t forget to check the other links to the right since many new motorcycle links have been added and that means many new places to visit! Now, on with the Spotlight…

Deep South Choppers "16"

Darcul Bellic
Owner Builder at Deep South Choppers
Founder of Second Life Bike Builders Association

SLM: What got you started on building motorcycles here in Second Life?
I used to run a club in SL and I wanted a bike for the club. When I learned that I could buy one full mods, I built one.

SLM: How long have you been building bikes?
About 2 years now in Second Life

SLM: What type of bikes do you build (cruisers, superbikes, etc.)?
Deep South Choppers offers a lot of different styles of bike. These bikes range from Baggers, cruisers, to custom builds. I have recreated a few from pictures I seen on the net.

SLM: Do you still have/remember the first successful bike you built?
The first real commercial success bike Deep South Choppers did was the Bitch Bike. It’s now a two year old name that still to this day is a top selling bike. The bike has had many updates and remakes. In fact its back in the shop for yet another remake of the same name.

SLM: Can you spill any beans on any current and future projects?
Right Now Deep South Choppers is in what I call a major remake and redesign of all the bikes. This upgrade/remodel of the bikes is called V4 or Version 4. all these new bikes have a totally customizable ride. The bikes have a paint program that DSC called the U-Paint-it in them that allows you or a painter to paint /texture your bike to whatever you wish to have

SLM: Do you ride in real life as well?  If so, what do you ride?
Not anymore. Was in a very serious accident years ago while on a bike. Friends think that’s why I’m a little …well you know

SLM: How did you learn to make bikes in Second Life (read a lot of material, apprenticed, worked for another)?
This is an excellent question and I’m glad you asked it. I went to a prodigious school known as ISHK here in Second Life. This school excels in all areas of bike building. I’m proud to be one of many fellow builders here in SL that has graduated from this school. I’m also proud to say that I graduated with honors at the top of my class. ….The International School of Hard Knocks

SLM: What would you say is the most important thing in regards to how you make your bikes?
There’s not just one thing. But I would say the top two are alignment and scale.

SLM: Out of all the bikes that you’ve built, what would you say is currently your crowning achievement and why?
I have always built bikes that I myself would ride. I have to say that any bike builder that doesn’t try to improve his /her craft will have a crowning bike. I’m proud of all my bikes. I like some more than others but I have to say, the best is yet to come at Deep South Choppers

SLM: What’s one thing that you’d like to see in the future of bike building?
More prims allowed on bikes

SLM: Motorcycle building aside, what’s one thing you’d like to see in the future of Second Life?
Well now that SL has titty bounce that’s hard to answer.
Let’s go with better graphics, less lag, and more bike sims

SLM: To all the people reading this, anything in particular you’d like to say?
Can’t talk right now, as a buddy of mine would say, “I’m Fixin” to go riding on one of my bikes. Do try to keep up.

Thanks Darcul for your time and patience! Keep up the good work and I’ll do my best to keep up!

See ya on the road!
