LAPaPALOOZA INFO!

A “thankyou” notecard received from Mackenzie Metall to all the people that participated in the 2010 LAPaPALOOZA!  Reprinting the notecard in it’s entirety. Also, keep in mind that the numbers posted here are currently unofficial and have not yet been posted on the RFL website.

“The 2010 Relay for Life of SL BIKER LAPaPaLOOZA was a huge success, tripling last years event and generating L$ 1,110,815 directly from the rider boards and approximately L$ 70,000 deposited into ACS kiosks.

We truly are thankful to all of you for making this fun, especially West Habercom of digiStream and the sim owners, with their teams, who allowed us to use their resources for the rally.  Hopefully, with a few new visitors on the sims, your businesses will see additional exposure.

To all the tribute bands and live performers, thank you for donating your time and offering up your awesome talents that helped us far surpass what we hoped to accomplish. 

For all the DJ’s that donated their time, some running through hoards of song lists, shuffling schedules and filling in, staying up all night, and promoting the event, we thank you for making this successful and for the countless hours.

For those that donated all the great rider incentive loot and prizes for the top 50 riders; 10 per sim, thank you. This would not be an event without you.

Of course we must recognize every single riders’ generosity and ability to bleed a friends list to death, ultimately generating our grand total.  There are way too many people to thank personally… Salute!

“Welcome Riders!
Here’s just a couple rules and info on how to enter the ✠  2010 Relay for LIfe of SL Biker LAPaPALOOZA Rally  ✠

Go to any one of the participating sims.

1. Pay a Rider Board L$ 250 to enter on each sim you wish to ride. THEY SAY PAY 250L$ TO JOIN.
You must enter on each sim you want to ride. You can enter on as many sims as you like.

2. Watch the hover text over your Rider Board,
AND your local chat for further instructions.

3. After you pay to enter a board, touch your Rider Board again to proceed, this will automatically display your current profile picture on your board (if available see below**),

or to use your own texture,

Hold the CTL key and drag your snapshot / texture from your inventory onto / over your Rider Board and release.
Then click to continue.

**Profile pictures will only display if your profile is shown in SL search. It takes ~24hrs to update search once you check “show in search” on your profile 2nd Life tab. So if you’re not shown in search, use your own texture.

You are now entered and your picture is displayed on your board.

Now it’s time to pledge how many laps you will ride on this sim.

4. Click/touch the Lap Pledge Kiosk, then watch your local chat for instructions.
After touching the Lap Pledge Kiosk, say the number of laps you pledge to ride on this sim on channel /33 #.
Your total Laps Pledged now displays on your Rider Board.

Example /33 100 would display 100 Laps pledged on your board.

5. Get people to sponsor your pledge…TP friends to your board to sponsor your laps
by asking them to donate on your behalf to the RFL of SL.
The more donations you get…the better…and your chances of winning a prize increase.
The top 5 riders, in terms of donations, will be displayed on the big contest board and be awarded prizes. So get the donations people…:D

6. THE TOP FIVE RIDERS WITH THE MOST DONATIONS WILL BE DISPLAYED ON THE BIG LEADER BOARD.
DO NOT PAY OR JOIN THE BIG BOARD!!!!
Your laps pledged and laps completed display only on your Rider Board…
You can ride your laps anytime from 4PM July 9th until 4PM July 11th when the gates will close and results will be tallied.

*********YOU WIN THIS CONTEST BY HAVING THE MOST DONATIONS, NOT THE MOST LAPS…********

*****A moment of logic*********
This is not a lap contest…it’s a donations contest…
You could pledge 100 laps and get your friends to donate 1000 L$,
or
You could pledge 1000 laps and get your friends to donate 100 L$.

You do the math…the point is…it’s not necessarily about the number of laps you do,
so as much as it’s about getting friends to sponsor the laps you can do…

Make them all aware of your pledge to help us fight cancer and make this the most successful RFL of SL Biker Lapapalooza ever….

Rider boards are available beginning July 1 on all 10 sims.
Gates open on all 10 sims July 9 at 4pm SLT  to run your laps.
That means you have a little over a week to get sponsors before we lower the green flag at 4PM July 9th and start logging laps. Laps completed will be displayed on your rider board so no slacking…:D
You then have 48 hours to complete your laps (July 9 4PM until July 11 4PM).
Then join us at the Rev Down Party for results, concerts and great prizes for the top five riders on each of the 10 sims. Each sim is it’s own contest. There is no tracking of laps ridden across sims or combined between sims.

|||||||||||||||||A note about acceptable conduct…
Bad behavior will not be tolerated. Management has final say on what is acceptable in all disputes. If you don’t like something and we can’t get it resolved to your satisfaction, leave! If you are asked to adjust your attitude, comply or you will be asked to leave…
If you find that you are banned from (or do not want to patronize) a particular sim in this event, then roll on down the road (sim list) to the next place where you are welcome and comfortable. We have included as many people as we could and teamed with 3 other RFL teams this year… We are not here to resolve prior disputes or waste our time resolving ones that arise now. We’ll do our best to make this fun for you/all and hope you will too. So Be Good or Be Gone! This is a charity event and any grievances should be set aside to benefit our good cause. And…although this is a “biker” event, we are representing the REAL AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, and we WON’T taint their good reputation with childish behavior or over the top vulgarity. Act like a reasonable adult would in RL at a similar event, respectfully of all who cross your path, and you’ll have a great time. Fail to do that, and we’ll have a good time without you….

|||||||||||||||||| A note about lag…For the benefit of all, please do what you can to reduce your load on the sims. If you want pointers on how to reduce your load on a sim and lag for everyone, please ask Mackenzie Metall or any of the Road Captains RC or Sergeants SGT in the BIKER LAPaPALOOZA 10/RELAY FOR HOPE group. We will be watching for super laggy avatars. If you are over the top and lag the sims to hard, we’ll ask you to adjust, so this is the best rally for all.
